Live music performance of both local veterans and young and unexposed traditional dance and music groups. The purpose being to show the public a window of SA music and cultural diversities using music, dance, colourful costumes, specialist entertainers, cultural exhibits etc This will be exhibited through a multitude of performing talent across all racial lines and put a colourful face to the uniquely varied cultural character of South Africa from the Khoisan and Basotho to Zulu and Afrikaner Kaapse Danse and dance troupes performing gumboot, pantsula etc. Community music groups, singing and playing acoustic instruments such as the accordion, harmonica and Zulu guitar, at various other locations. A troupe of up to 100 school children – some dressed in the sponsor’s shirts – doing tin music dance.
A three day women’s conference focusing on the development and achievements of women in all sectors including politics, business and academic will be part of this programme. An exhibition of craft by women, particularly in Mogale City, will take place at the precinct venue for five days.
Accredited African arts, craft and souvenir vendors will form part of the exhibition within the precinct. The concert, not only will it highlight the individualistic artistry, but the ability of collaboration and sharing the stage in one voice and performance. The purpose of this exercise will be to create, deepen and maintain interest and prominence of local arts, and South Africa as a cultural hub. The live music celebration event is aimed at establishing an irrefutable world-music and traditional-music and other creative authentic music genres in the hearts and minds of the public enhancing arts and culture, thus preserving our heritage.
The event will be characterised by production standards that equal (and exceed) the high calibre and expectations of the public. It will also be a platform for the veterans to interact with the young and up-coming artists with emphasis on development. Artist selection, technical back-up and execution, VIP and entertainment press hospitality, and the level of audience comfort and enjoyment, would establish the concert as the new benchmark of professional live music presentation in South Africa, and as the most prominent vehicle through which the rich tapestry of South African musical talent could be nurtured, developed and showcased.

Arts Festival -
- To create awareness of and promote interest in MOGALE ARTS FESTIVAL as one of the biggest Cultural and Heritage Celebration events ever in the history of South Africa.
- To create heightened awareness of the critical value and role of the arts, culture and heritage in the social and economic well being of Mogale City and its local community.
- Clearly identified and preserved heritage assets/sites; thus contributing to the City’s tourism and GDP.
- Achievement of a greater commitment to and involvement in the development and growth of arts, culture and heritage by policy-makers, government departments, communities, business, NGO’s.
- Needs assessments programmes and campaigns, which create employment opportunities in cultural and related industries.
- Visible evidence of the cultural profile of the city.
- Visible contribution of National Lotteries Board on the policy to the growth and development of the SMMEs, arts, culture and heritage in the City.
- Increased contribution by National Lotteries Board to a number of facilities, activities and programmes to attract greater numbers of patrons and tourists to South Africa and, particularly, Mogale City.
- To utilise the arts and culture (music and dance) to promote Mogale City among the tourists, youth and public in general.
- To provide a showcase for South Africa's diverse arts and cultural heritage.
- To offer a platform to a vast variety of South Africa's SMMEs through National Lotteries Boards contribution.
- To put a song and dance in MOGALE ARTS FESTIVAL and welcome delegates and visiting guests with the sounds and rhythms of Mogale City through carnivals.
- To focus South Africa’s attention and direct action toward meeting difficult challenges, toward improving the quality of life of the local community through supplier contractual services, and cultural and business exhibition.
THE CARNIVAL @ the Civic precinct
The carnival will be a tool utilised to entertain people heading towards the venues showing the visitors and the public alike a window of SA music and cultural diversities using music, dance, colourful costumes, specialist entertainers, cultural exhibits etc
- Eleven fixed cultural exhibits – constructed of light-weight, easy-to-assemble material - consisting of iconic elements (such as a Zulu hut) of the various cultural groups in South Africa
- One hundred and fifty people - singers, dancers and 'actors' in traditional costume sourced from the community - participating at each of the eleven exhibits and turning it into a 'live' cultural display.
- Five community dance troupes performing gumboot, pantsula, jive, Cape Carnival and African traditional routines at various other locations in the demarcated carnival area.
- Ten community music groups, singing and playing acoustic instruments such as the accordion, harmonica and Zulu guitar, at various other locations in the demarcated carnival area.
- A troupe of up to 100 school children – some dressed in the MOGALE FESTIVAL shirts – doing tin music dance.
- A troupe of 30 carnival characters comprising -
- A brass band of 100 artists welcoming people to the venues on one end of the carnival area.
- A guard of honour – made up of 100 school children or volunteers, in synchrony, performing street & tin music– welcoming people to the venues at the other end of the carnival area
Note: It is estimated that up to 800 people (children and adults) will participate in the carnival. All music and dance groups will be choreographed.
Craft & Business Exhibition:
Market Hall - (1 x week) Craft Fair and Business Exhibition will be showcasing the uniqueness, creativity and excellence from local and other provinces. It will create and provide opportunities for selling and buying. All Products which are deemed “export-ready” will be identified for the national and international market. The exhibition will also create the general awareness of the craft sector in addressing the plight of our people and the achievements to date through a media campaign. It will, also, highlight the hospitality sector from accommodation to catering facilities to heritage sites that are available in and around Mogale City and the Province itself.
